The UCSD and Rady Children's Hospital Joint Program in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is committed to delivery of exemplary clinical care, to teaching, and to basic and clinical research in digestive diseases in children. The board-certified faculty are the sole providers for pediatric digestive diseases in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
Clinically, the faculty provides consultations for patients and physicians on all aspects of gastrointestinal disease, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, living-related and cadaveric liver transplantation, liver diseases, motility disorders, parenteral and enteral nutritional supplementation, and disorders of the pancreas and gallbladder. Our faculty engage in a wide variety of clinical and basic science research to further the understanding, treatment, and cure of many disorders. We are part of many collaborative multi-center trials.
Our division provides accredited training to pediatric and adult gastroenterology fellows, residents, and medical students from the University of California, as well as other programs. We have special interests and expertise in hepatitis, fatty liver, biliary atresia, obesity, peptic disorders, total parenteral nutrition, celiac disease, and functional abdominal pain.
